루이 암스트롱(Louis Armstrong)은 1901년 미국 뉴올리언즈에서 출생하였고 트럼펫 연주자로 많은 악단에서 활동하다가 노래를 부르게 되었고 재즈 보컬리스트 의 제1인자로 꼽힌다. 루이 암스트롱은 자신의 악단을 조직하여 세계를 돌며 연주와 노래를 하였고, 1963년 4월에는 한국을 방문하여 워커힐 호텔에서 2주간 공연을 갖기도 하였다. 70세까지도 영화에도 자주 출연하는 등 현역으로 활동하다 1971년 사망하였다.
