지베르니(Giverny)는 프랑스 파리에서 서쪽으로 70㎞ 떨어져 있는 곳으로 인상파 화가 클로드 모네(Claude Monet, 1840~1926)가 43세 때인 1883년 센 강 연안의 이곳으로 와서 만년을 보낸 곳이다. 모네는 지베르니의 자연에 매료되어 1890년 집을 장만하고, 연못을 만들어 수련을 심고 수련과 연못을 작품으로 완성하였다. 이후 지베르니는 유명 연예인과 은퇴한 정치가, 예술인들이 이주하였으며, 마을 한가운데 마르모땅 클로드 모네미술관(Musee Marmottan-Claude Monet)이 있어 많은 관광객이 찾는 곳이되었다.
