샘 쿡(Sam Cooke) : Unchained Melody
샘 쿡(Sam Cooke)의 본명은 새뮤얼 쿡(Samuel Cook, 1931~1964)으로 소울의 제왕(King of Soul)으로 불리는 미국의 가수, 작곡가, 민권운동가, 사업가다. 1957년과 1964년까지 미국 톱 40에 30곡을 랭크하였고 사후에 3곡을 올렸다. 대표곡은 'You Send Me', 'A Change Is Gonna Come', 'Cupid', 'Chain Gang', 'Wonderful World', 'Another Saturday Night', 'Twistin' the Night Away' 등.이 있다. 1964년 12월 11일, 쿡은 하시엔다 호텔의 매니저 버사 프랭클린의 총에 맞아 그 나이 33세로 비명횡사했다.
